The Service Experts Heating and Air Conditioning Field Support Office in Plano, TX was thrilled to contribute over 300 pounds of food to Minnie’s Food Pantry, also located in the Texas city.
“Last fall, I had the ability to get a group of colleagues to volunteer at Minnie’s and it was such an amazing experience,” said Amanda Wilson, Operations Specialist for Service Experts. “They do so much more than just collect food – they are a crucial part of this community.”
Minnie’s Food Pantry was created by Cheryl Jackson as a way to honor her mother, Minnie Hawthorne-Ewing D.D., who spent many of her childhood years wondering if and where she would get her next meal. Minnie’s doesn’t just provide free, healthy meals to families in need, they also hold classes to teach families how to incorporate the food they are given to cook healthy, long-lasting meals. They also offer resume support along with budgeting and job classes to help members of the community get back on their feet.
Since the families receive approximately 50 pounds of food to get them through the month, Service Experts was able to feed six families for the month.
“All the team members were so excited that we had this food drive for the organization, and they even took us around their incredible facility,” Wilson said.
