What NATE Certification is and Why it Matters

November 08, 2016

Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning in Kingston always talks about how our team of experts are NATE-certified, and while it sounds encouraging, what does it really mean?

NATE is the acronym for North American Technician Excellence and, according to their website, is the nation’s largest certification organization for HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) and refrigeration technicians. The organization was developed nearly 20 years ago and is supported by the entire HVAC and refrigeration industry but not all people in the industry are required to be NATE-certified. The certification is voluntary and technicians can work in the heating, cooling, ventilation, and refrigeration industry without being certified through NATE.

It’s important to Service Experts that our team is NATE-certified to be sure we are sending the most qualified and skilled technicians into your home. To make sure professionals meet these standards, the NATE-certification exams validate real-world working knowledge of HVACR systems for technicians. The tests are knowledge-based exams that assess the technician’s knowledge of these standards.

Since Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning focuses on the HVAC side of NATE-certification instead of refrigeration, there are only particular areas pertinent to our technicians. NATE test candidates may obtain installation and/or service certification in one or more of the specialty areas listed below:

  • Air Conditioning
